There’s a sadness when lonely people step into square spaces — sometimes rectangle — under the pretense of hygienic routine; in a simple room where we learn to repress shame.
The bathroom — or shower room — is the only domestic place designed for complete loneliness. It is a privacy that comes with a caveat: whatever the experience, it cannot be socially traded.
Warm water can only do so much for tortured souls with heavy guilt…
These are the smallest of places that bookend our day and see us for who we are. The uniqueness of crimes hardly make a difference, the truth goes down the same drain.
